Double Challenge

I made this card for two challenges--the Heart 2 Heart Challenge #4 which was to add at least two different ribbons on your artwork AND the CPS Sketch 164.  Here's the sketch:

And here's my take on it:

I used the Sweet Home paper pack and the Welcome Home stamp set.  Cardstock and ink are Garnet, White Daisy, and Indian Corn Blue.  Ribbon is Heavenly Blue Organdy and Buttercup Designer Ribbon Rounds.  All products are Close To My Heart.

As you can see, I popped the pillows, the dog, and the lampshade as well as both entire accent pieces.  My flower is a brad, and the lampshade is a piece of B&T paper from the Sweet Home pack.  (I tried using the B&T for the pillows too, but it was just "too much."  Less is more when decorating, right?)  LOL!

I used my tape runner to stick the buttercup ribbon to the organdy which also made it stiffer and easier to work with for the bow.  I often "cheat" when wrapping ribbon that I want to be flat like this--it doesn't really go all the way around, I just tape it on the back and then adhere the entire piece to a card base.  That works well for me because I prefer my card inside to be white or light colored and I don't like ribbon or brads poking through.  The two brads are copper and are just for decoration!  Please let me know what you think.  Thanks for looking!

  2. This is lovely! Excuse any typos as I am typing this at an odd angle over my cat as he has decided that in front of my keyboard is a great place to snooze :)

I love how you popped up certain elements and I feel the same about ribbons and brads poking through - it looks yuck!

  3. How inviting - looks like I could just move-in...into the card that is! I'm with you - no ribbons or brads on the inside of my cards either...if need be, I'll make a total front then adhere it.
